Dear Sir,
Warm greetings from JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF)!
JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBAF), founded on the ideals of the United Nations Human Rights Charter (Bill of Rights), has been continuously engaged in the protection and promotion of human rights since its inception. It is the constitutional duty of the state to uphold the fundamental human rights of every citizen of Bangladesh.
According to a news article published in the online edition of the Daily Karatoa on June 4, 2024, it was reported that at around 8 am on June 4, a constable named Rikon Hossain from the Shittradah Police Camp went to Suman Hossain's garage in Shiordah Bazaar, Jhikargacha Upazila, to repair his motorcycle. The garage worker, Ripon Hossain, informed him that he couldn't fix the motorcycle. This led to constable Rikon becoming agitated and attacking Ripon with an iron rod. When local people intervened, constable Rikon threatened them with his gun and fired a shot at Ripon, which missed and hit a haystack nearby. He then left the scene, threatening to shoot everyone. Ripon, the injured garage worker, is currently receiving treatment at home.
This incident is extremely unfortunate, illegal, and a clear violation of both the Constitution of the People's Republic of Bangladesh and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights declared by the United Nations.
JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBF) believes that, in order to establish the rule of law and human rights in Bangladesh, you will take direct intervention and necessary actions against the accused after a thorough investigation. We hope that your swift and effective measures will ensure impartial investigation and justice for the abused Ripon Hossain.
In these circumstances, JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBAF) urges your immediate intervention to protect and promote human rights in the mentioned case. We kindly request you to send a copy of the action taken report to the JMBF office after the necessary steps are taken.
JusticeMakers Bangladesh in France (JMBAF) wishes you every success in all your endeavors.
With deep sincerity,
Advocate Shahanur Islam Saikot
